James Shultis is a poet & social activist dividing time between his own writing & non-profit work, most recently with Grand Street Community Arts, a non-profit community art space in Albany, NY, where he served as the organization’s Executive Director.
James holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens College (2010) & a BA in English Literature from Hunter College (2008). He has previously served as Editor-In-Chief as well as Poetry Editor for Ozone Park Journal, a new journal of creative writing sponsored by Queens College. His work has appeared in print & online journals, the newest among them: Mud Luscious Press, The Scrambler, Women Studies Quarterly (through Feminist Press), Farmhouse Magazine & Next Door Magazine.
Some of James’ interests that might just win your heart over include: spontaneous adventures, bike rides over bridges at midnight, collecting old records & wildflowers on the side of the road. He also has experience organizing around LGBT & POC equal access issues, he’s savvy in development & marketing, not to mention digital media/design.
